Gavyn the Ghost
What great fun when you get a 5-year-old to cooperate with you. Usually, as soon as they see you bring up the camera, they hide. And if they can’t hide, they make awful faces. But here, I gave Gavyn something to do; something he loves to do, and that’s riding his scooter really fast.
I was trying out a technique where I was using an off-camera flash set to second curtain sync, and shooting at dusk. This allowed me to pick up the flash, creating a streak, and then capturing his face at the end of the exposure.
As an added bonus, he has wheels on his scooter that have flashing LED lights that blink as the wheels turn. This was fun, for me and for our 5-year-old.
